Things I loved about Jurassic World:
The Park is (finally) open
It only took 22 years but we finally get to see a fully functioning park. Were treated to sweeping views of the Island in all it's glory. I absolutely loved the idea of the gyrosphere and being able to move between the herding dinosaurs.
BD Wong returning as Henry Wu
I loved Henry in Jurassic Park and I only wish we could have seen more of him. Now that Hammond is out of the way Wu is given free reign to engineer the dinosaurs in whatever way he sees fit.
What I didn't like:
Over use of CG
I loved the use of animatronics in Jurassic Park. CG was only used when you could see the entire dinosaur and this gave the film a more "real" feel. There were times in Jurassic World where I thought the CG didn't hold up and the dinosaurs ended up looking strange
Poor character development
I wasn't impressed with the casting in Jurassic World. Their just not developed enough to make the viewer really care about what happens to any of them. It honestly wouldn't have bothered me if every last one of them were eaten.
The amount of cheese in Jurassic World was also unexpected. Some of it was funny ( the part in the control room near the end) and some of it was cringe worthy. The Owen and Claire thing added nothing to the story for me.
Final Verdict:
I left the cinema feeling a little deflated and disappointed. While Jurassic World was entertaining it failed to capture me like Jurassic Park did. The lack of memorable characters puts Jurassic World into the instantly forgettable category. Younger viewers will love it but die hard fans will be left wanting.
I'm going to go re read Jurassic Park and try and forget about this!
