I was so saddened yesterday to hear of the passing of Christopher Lee. He was one of my all time favorite actors and arguably one of the greatest villains to ever grace the big screen.
To honor this great man I decided to put together a post featuring some of my favorite characters that he has played throughout the years. Some of my favorites are where he plays a smaller role. Which goes to show that you don't need a huge amount of screen time to make a significant impact.
Sauruman
Saruman the White is a fictional character and a major antagonist in J. R. R. Tolkien's fantasy novel The Lord of the Rings. He is leader of the Istari, wizards sent toMiddle-earth in human form by the godlike Valar to challenge Sauron, the main antagonist of the novel, but eventually he desires Sauron's power for himself and tries to take over Middle-earth by force. His schemes feature prominently in the second volume, The Two Towers, and at the end of the third volume, The Return of the King. His earlier history is given briefly in the posthumously published The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales.
Saruman is one of several characters in the book illustrating the corruption of power; his desire for knowledge and order leads to his fall, and he rejects the chance of redemption when it is offered. The name Saruman [ˈsaruman] means "man of skill";[1] he serves as an example of technology and modernity being overthrown by forces more in tune with nature. Saruman is represented by a white hand.
Wilbur Wonka
Christopher plays Willy's intimidating dentist father who fits him with a brace that looks more like a torture device and forbids him from eating any type of candy or chocolate.
Pastor Galswells - The Corpse Bride
The Jabberwocky (Jabberwock) - Alice in Wonderland
