Room to Read Fundraiser Giveaway

Quick! I want the first answer that comes to your mind when I ask this next question. Ready? 

What’s your favorite book?

What did you say? Did you answer with a childhood favorite? Maybe a classic that you fell in love with many years ago? Perhaps a recent bestseller that you can’t stop reading? It’s also possible that you are one of the millions of readers who can’t choose a favorite because there are just too many incredible books to choose from. It’s ok. There’s no right or wrong answer. 

Now, I want you to imagine being unable to answer that question because you’ve never read a book. Think about all of the wonders and stories you would have missed out on if you couldn’t read a book. Unfortunately, that is the case for over 500 million girls across the world. Of the 793 million illiterate people in the world, 67% are female. That is heartbreaking. Fortunately the incredible people at Room to Read are on a mission to change that and I’m asking for your help in supporting them.

From August 15th to September 15th I am participating in a Room to Read fundraiser giveaway. A prize pack of free eBooks is being given away by participating authors as a special thank you for your generosity in supporting this program.

How do you enter the giveaway? It’s easy, just cycle the through the options on the PunchTab giveaway widget included with this post. A monetary donation to Room to Read in support of this program is required. You are awarded one entry for every $5 donated (so a $20 donation would give you 4 entries). You will receive a bonus entry for every other action in the widget that you complete.

Statistics about girls’ education and literacy:

In the developing world, 42% of girls are not enrolled in school and do not have access to education.

Of the 793 million illiterate people in the world, 67% are female.

The goal for this fundraiser is to raise $500. If we succeed in raising $500 we will be able to fully fund the education expenses for two girls for an entire year. Please help us reach our goal!
