Is it at all possible, we could ever have a female James Bond?
At this moment of time with the latest release of the new James Bond movie, Spectre, there has been many suggestions of the next best possible move for the British secret agent known as 007.
There are milions of James Bond fans and milions of fans for a particular reason and that surley is due to the main attributes not only of this style of genre but of course and some may argue more importantly the attributes of the main character , the one the only Mr. Bond himself.
There are many great female Bond characters and least of all the commander of M.I.5. M a character that undoubtedly has no lack of ascendancy.
I like the relationship between these two main characters, I feel that this adds charm to the film and a certain sense of humour and compassion. This relationship between M and Bond is some what the provider of many of the greatest scenes of all the Bond movies and allows the audience to witness a multi dimensional value of professionalism and personal interaction.
Not to mention the countless great female Bond characters, this asking the question has this franchise failed to comply with equality? Has it looked these modern times and this social matter bold in the eye and disgraced it?, I feel no, plus is it not an institution in its own right long celebrating the strength of woman?
There are many great films of this genre and many of which with leading female characters , lets mention Kill Bill, The Avengers, Charlie's Angels and so on, These are great films with equally great characters but they are not James Bond and neither are they trying to be just as it can be said James Bond is not trying to be anything other.
Sureley such a drastic change in concept to this particular franchise, would alter the very identifiable characteristics of these films / stories in which we all enjoy, giving good reason to leave this aspect alone, not to mention the most obvious underlying issue on how difficult it would be to find a woman named James.
Is this the end of James Bond or shall we further more be entertained by one of the most recognisble characters in the world? "Watch your back James you dont know whats around the corner."
