Reader, If you are a fan of the macabre and have not yet discovered Jack Ketchum then please, go and ad all of his books to your "to be read list". Go, do it now you won't miss anything............

Back? Ok. Based on the Sylvia Likens story, The girl next door tells the story of Meg and Susan who are placed under the care of a neighbour named Ruth. Far from being the doting carer, Ruth invites her children and their neighbourhood friends to play a "game" with Meg and Susan. Their little "games" involve acts of extreme torture from scalding baths to sexual abuse and murder. But it's okay, it's just the "way things are". "It's just a game". It represents how apathetic we, as a society have/can become.

This book will horrify you. It may even bring you to tears. It will stay with you for a long time after you turn the last page. You will find yourself goggling this book, because "there's no way this can be true". You will find that the truth can be a lot more brutal than fiction.

This book shows how depraved the human race can be and how we must confront brutality head on and do everything we can stop it while we have the chance.
